Lash lift services have recently exploded in popularity and more and more people are asking what exactly a lash lift consists of. Here at A Touch of Good Karma Massage and Esthetics, we not only wish to provide our clients with luxury services, but we also strive to educate them as well. As they say, knowledge is power and it is our job as professionals to ensure that our clients know exactly what each service consists of. With that in mind, we have chosen our most frequently asked questions and answered them below.
What is a lash lift?
A lash lift is a process of creating a semi-permanent curl in the lashes. Basically, it is a service that is meant to cut back on your morning beauty routine. It eliminates the need for those awkward lash curling devices that are kind of scary near the eyes. Each person’s lashes are different from the next. Some have thicker, darker lashes and others have thinner lashes with a little less pigment. The best part about a lash lift is that it is a completely customizable process. The intensity of the curl is all based on what the individual client is looking for.
How Does it work?
The entire process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and it consists of adhering the lashes to a specially designed rod. The lashes are separated and placed on the rod to achieve the desired curl. When the lashes are placed correctly the next step is to apply the lifting solution. The lifting solution works to break down the bonds in the hair in order to reform the hair into the desired curl. It usually sits on the lashes anywhere from 5-10 minutes depending on the thickness and integrity of the lashes. After the lifting solution is removed completely, a neutralizing solution is applied which locks in the curl and sets it so that the curl stays in the lashes. This solution usually stays on the lashes for 5-10 minutes depending on the thickness and integrity of the lashes. Once the neutralizing solution is removed completely from the lashes, your certified lash technician will proceed to remove the lashes from the curling rod and then remove the rod from the eyelid. This process differs depending on the solutions chosen. Your technician will spend enough time cleaning the lashes of any solution or adhesives that may have been left behind prior.
How long will it last?
A lash lift typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks depending on the individual’s hair growth cycle. Not every client is the same. Some may have to come in more frequently to maintain the lift and others may be able to go a little longer before coming in fo
How do you maintain a lash lift?
Maintenance is actually very minimal for a lash lift. All you really need to do is wait 24 hours before getting your lashes wet then after that you are good to go. You can apply mascara and other eye makeup as normal as well as lash serums.
Who is not a candidate for a lash lift service?
- Lash lifts are not recommended for anyone with very short, fine lashes. Your lashes have to be able to wrap around the rod enough for an appropriate curl and if they are too short the lashes will simply not curl. Sensitive skin is another reason to not get a lash lift. If you have sensitive skin or sensitivities to adhesives or glues then this is not a service we would recommend. If you are looking for something dramatic that is not what this service provides. This service is meant to give a natural curl to your natural lashes. It will not make them look dramatically thicker or longer. Lastly, if you are someone who LOVES to use lash curlers, then we do not recommend getting a lash lift. Lash curlers can damage and even rip out your lashes and, to be honest, curlers will never curl your lashes as good as this service does!
